Students, faculty members, and researchers gathered at the Legacy Annex Gymnasium on May 15, 2026, for the first ever College Research Congress BANTAYOG 2026, a milestone event that highlighted Legacy College's growing commitment to research, innovation, and academic excellence.
Carrying the theme, "Pioneering a Legacy of Academic Excellence as a Beacon of Research and Innovation," the congress brought together student researchers from various academic disciplines to present studies that addressed real life issues and community concerns. Research presentations covered a wide range of fields, including education, business, technology, and the social sciences, showcasing the institution's efforts to promote inquiry driven learning and evidence based solutions.
Setting the tone for the event was keynote speaker Dr. Dhan Timothy M. Ibojo, Program Head of Assumption College of Nabunturan. In his address, Dr. Ibojo underscored the significance of research in shaping future leaders, generating innovative ideas, and creating meaningful impact in society. He challenged student researchers to remain curious, resilient, and committed to producing knowledge that extends beyond the classroom.
The congress also benefited from the expertise of its distinguished technical panel members. Dr. Giovanni A. Montejo, Dean of the College of Teacher Education of Legacy College of Compostela, Dr. Maedel Joy V. Escote, College and Graduate School Professor of Assumption College of Nabunturan, and Dr. Karl Patrick B. Amper, Instructor of Davao del Norte State College, provided critical insights and constructive recommendations that enriched the research presentations and discussions.
More than a venue for presenting studies, BANTAYOG 2026 served as a platform for collaboration and intellectual exchange. Throughout the day, participants engaged in discussions that encouraged critical thinking, confidence, and a deeper appreciation of the role of research in addressing contemporary challenges. The event fostered an atmosphere where ideas were shared freely and learning extended beyond the presentation stage.
The congress concluded with the awarding of outstanding research papers and presenters. Among the participating departments, the Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English emerged as the most awarded group, earning the highest number of recognitions and demonstrating excellence in research and scholarly work.
As the inaugural College Research Congress came to a close, BANTAYOG 2026 proved to be more than an academic gathering. It became a celebration of discovery, collaboration, and achievement, leaving participants inspired to continue pursuing research that contributes to both academic growth and community development.
